I have a 1976 gold bicentinual coin that has stamped on thre right hand side has the dates 1945 and 1985 stamped into it. I would like to know if someone knows the histry of this coin and why the two additional dates.

im guessing its a gold plated bicentennial ike dollar, and the two other dates represent the 40th anniversary of the end of WWII? I find gold plated kennedy halves all the time with the dates 1960 and 1980 on them celebrated the 20th anniversary of his inaguaration.

What makes you think it is a coin. Does it have a denomination on it? If so then it has been altered after it left the mint. In 1976 everyone was producing medals and tokens to ride the money train the bicentennial caused. You may have one of those items. With out knowing exactly what is on both sides, I can not help further. Now as to the novelty coin guy, it maybe one and may not have much of a monetary value, but it is not worthless, for it is part of Americana. It will always be an historic item and mean something to someone.
