I do not agree with your opinion but I will fight to the death for your right to say it. It seems people would rather see their oponnents dead than support for their right to say it.

It would be nice to see that attitude return and prevail.

That sentiment is in trouble. I see question after question advocating a position inconsistent with the first amendment. And then response after response that suggesting that it has outlived its usefulness.

There are an appalling large number of Americans that do not believe in the right of free speech, free press, separation of church and state, the right to petition the government or assemble freely. They advocate shutting down press coverage of the war, jailing government critics, arresting protesters, and would impose their religion on the government and the people.

I still work under it. I disagree with alot of people, but if they werent allowed to say what they want, then how could I argue with them?

I love it when people express differing opinions. Its nice to know that we don't have a bunch of sheep here.

What the people-who-want-thier-opponents-dead don't see is that they would have nothing to do if thier opponents were dead. We'd all agree with each other, and things would get quite boring.

Sorry, buddy, but I'll have to part company with you here. I believe in freedom of speech, but I WILL NOT fight to the death to defend a pedophile's "right" to advocate child abuse, nor a terrorist's "right" to advocate terrorism.

You are probably referring to the statement made by Patrick Henry to a session of the Virginia House of Burgesses. Lately one wonders if Mr. Henry isn't spinning in his grave.

Nothing has happened to it.

Has anyone been fined, imprisoned, etc.. for their stand on the Iraq War, immigration, etc?

Just because you are completely opposed to someone's ideas doesn't mean you want them dead. You simply want your ideas to prevail.

I know, all the good shows! I hate how they replaced Kenan and Kel for stupid shows like Back at the Barnyard. And Doag was not boring! I also liked that show Pelswik.
