my riding lawnmower will not start, it was fine at first and then we had to add jumper cables to start it, don't know why all we had to do was put them on there for a sec and tern key and it started right up, it has a brand new battery, i think its the starter but i want to check and see, can someone help me

also on the solenoid u have the cable that goes from the battery to solenoid and then another that goes from solenoid to starter, is the cable on the solenoid suppose to light up on a test light on either end, (solenoid or starter)

also tried to jump solenoid but nothin and i also put jumper cables on the starter and still nothin

Check the fuse that is on the cable near the solenoid. I just had the same problem as you and found the fuse was shot, hope this helps.

Check with you local auto store (Pep Boys, Auto-Zone, etc.) and see if they can bench-test the starter. Also, replace the solenoid. And stop hooking up things to the starter, the solenoid, etc. you'll end up burning something up that was perfectly fine until you fried it, lol. Honestly, I'd replace the solenoid first, see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't, you aren't out that much money, and the only other thing it can be is either the starter or a bad cable (check the key switch assembly too).

Sounds like the starter is burnt out. If you use jumper cables to directly on that starter and it doesn;t spin over. Your starter is shot to death.
