Is Jail right for her? She had an emotional breakdown and is paying too much for her crime. There was a drunk driver who hit a woman who needed four operations to be back to normal. He got 90 days of community service. Paris gets a month in jail.

The unfair thing is that she finally agreed to 'to her time', then some bungling sheriff and power-crazed judge got into a hoity-toity tiff that has unfairly put Paris in the middle of a political snafu. If the sheriff thought she was in danger, he should have consulted with the judge before releasing her and getting her hopes up. If the judge had no reason to overturn the sheriff's decisions, other than because he had the power to do so, he did nothing to alleviate the situation. Yes, she probably should have served her time like any other 'common' prisoner; but to take a person from a degradation of jail to the euphoria of home confinement - and then back to the degradation of jail - is cruel and unusual emotional punishment that many of us couldn't deal with very well, much less a spoiled little rich kid like Paris Hilton. -RKO- 06/09/07

Yes. While it may cause some emotional distress on her part, there may also be an end to justify a means. Firstly, she is not above the law. Had she not so recklessly endangered the lives of others by getting behind that wheel while intoxicated, she may not have had to go through this. Think of the trauma that would have happened if a loved one had been killed by her careless attitude. She may as well have been pointing a loaded gun in a crowd. It was thoughtless and harmful to others. She should serve her time. It will all be over and done with in no time flat and she is being treated WELL in prison. Don't kid yourself. They have made special accommodations for her. Paris won't spend a full month in jail. Chances are she will be out in about two weeks time. IF she doesn't try to pull another stunt like this one.

yes and no

Paris is too famous to be in jail with opportunist who will single her out to become famous themselves. They would break her bones or cut her face with any sharp object they could find.

She should be forced to do 120 hours of community service and visit the emergency room to see what happens to be who have been in fatal car accidents. She would be sick to her stomach and never drink again.

See this is the problem; Whether you like her or not you have to admit she's not like the rest of us.
She's used to getting away with trouble.
Also; can you imagine her going to and AAA meeting?
No one else who goes there is going to like all the poperotzies following her there.
I think they should just keep her from driving, that's it.
Punishment served.

Unfairly only in the sense that she's getting treated better and with more attention than your average poor, black, or Latino prisoner.

She did the crime, she can do the time.

if not a jail, then a mental hospital. She clearly has the mind of a child.
