Chewing gum while playing Baseball can warm you up. Also baseball players used to chew tobacco instead but once that became illegal baseball players found that chewing bubble gum was almost as good, and was safe.

A lot of guys are chewing tobacco and not gum like people think. For the ones that actually chew gum, its just an alternative to tobacco, something to keep your nerves down.

thats not gum thats a fat ol bog of chew and yes chewing releases the special horemoans in the brain that let you see the ball better

It might if the gum is full of sugar. It can give them a little energy(sugar rush).It also gives them a very tiny bit of hydration if they're a little dry.

they probably chew quench gum made by mueller or gatorade gum to help quench their thirst.

no but its a good way to have some good aroma in your mouth. baseball dugouts stink like pig holes.
