No, don't give up. Pretty soon I will start asking questions of my own again. You are right. Just be glad you get some good answers from people who take pride in their answers by thiking them through.

I feel discouraged to ask questions because people tend to assume that the questioner is necessarily an ignorant person just because s/he asks questions. Some of my questions have had some rude and disrespectful answerers who made foolish assumptions about why I was asking the question and who I am as a person based on my questions.

I ask questions even if I think that I already know the answer. I ask questions simply because I am curious to see the perspectives of others. I think that many other persons ask questions for that same reason. I tolerate the answerers' perspectives as long as they do not make unkind assumptions about me based on the questions I ask.

I think that it is important to not assume that the person who is asking a particular question does not know the answer. It is possible the person knows the answer but asks the question anyway to see what others think.

I can't speak for your questions, but I have seen that MANY of the questions here are very, well, stupid.

I saw one that was something like "How have the 9/11 attacks influnced international relations."

Number 1-You could write a book about that question and never scratch the surface.

Number 2-You would really have to me dumb to have no idea about such a topic.

Personally, I never answer questions of that nature.

I would just make sure your question is reasonable, and you should get an answer.
