Most companies will not go to court over such a piddling amount. You can not be put in jail for owing people money. (Except child support). If you don't have the money all they can get is a judgment. Very unlikely they will sue you.

Lawyers aren't permitted in small claims court....just you and the person you owe the money to. And it usually costs under 25.00 to file a complaint.

Yes, they will spend the filing fee and take you to small claims...and you will lose and have to pay thier court costs in addition to the money you already owe.

No, you won't be imprisoned - but if you fail to pay, they can put a lien against anything you own like bank accounts, savings, cars, home, valuable electronic equipment.....and any future earning you may have. One way or the other, you will pay them.

Why don't you just make arrangements to start paying it off?

There are NO attorneys in small claims court. They're not allowed. No, you won't be imprisoned. Yes, they probably will waste the time suing you. If you end up losing the suit, you will have to pay it or possibly lose property.

No.
They will sell the debt to a collection agency who will then go after you to get the money.

If the debt is any type of credit or credit related, they could report the debt to the credit bureaus, which would make it harder for you to get a loan, rent an apt, buy a house or a car.

A long time ago, people used to be put in "debtor's prisons" for owing people money. Not anymore.

basically carry regardless of evidence you would be able to desire to the court docket and verify out to get a judgement against him in the quantity you have lost. as far as collections according to hazard call him a pair of times yet do not call many times as then he can sue you for harassment. If he refuses to pay then document a declare to garnish his wages which will incredibly set up a cost plan to grant you your money out of his paycheques and his business enterprise would be legally guaranteed to try this so there isn't something he can do approximately it.

they will and they will win you need to send them a money order for 5$ AND IN the memo part of the money order write the words ( for final payment ) so if they cash it you can show the judge the copy of the money order and say they excepted the payment as a final one and you do not understand why they are suing you.

I doubt it , I don't think a lawyer is involved in small claims , just a judge and he makes a ruling if you should pay or not

I guess if you totally defied the judges order to pay there is a possibility of jail time

Probably not jail. But they may seize your bank accounts, pay checks, impound your car -- that kind of thing --if you lose and refuse to pay up. They won't use a lawyer, probably just a company representative.

They can ruin your credit, instead of suing you they can send you to a collections agency which can ruin your credit and next time you try to buy a car or a house, this will greatly affect you :(

It's a civil dispute not a criminal matter. You wont be imprisoned.
