where in the world do pirates still operate?

There more instances of Piracy in this world than you would think.
Most of the activity is along the East and West Caribbean. They seek out Private yachts and expensive craft. And there as dangerous and deadly today as they ever were.

You will find them off Somolia, off Brazil, in the South China Sea, and near Indonesia. They can operate off India and near Singapore. Much of Africa is if-fy. Anywhere there is serious third world poverty, chances are you will find pirates.
One of the scarey things is how ships can disappear and be found in different ports with false registration and a different identity, operating under a different flag. There is a lot of it going on.

There are,in fact,several locations were pirates still operate.The South China Sea is one but the most active area seems to be off the coast of Somalia.One of our warships was involved in the most recent case.

In the Oceans and Seas. They can be anywhere, but, tend to stay away from the better patroled areas.
