Swimming pool consists of stagnant water meaning that the water is not changed regularly unlike flowing water. When people get into the pool without first cleansing themselves, bacteria and viruses also get into the water. The germs come from the anuses of people especially when they practice using tissues when they defecate instead of washing it with soap and water. When the population of germs get large enough, it may cause illness to the people who dip into the pool. Oftentimes, the water is being swallowed in small quantities especially for children. Chlorine, an antiseptic agent, sometimes cannot control the growth of germs. High concentrations of chlorine cannot be added into the water since it causes cancer when much of it is absorbed thru the skin. Cancer of the breast, stomach and urinary bladder is usually attributed to chlorine.

So for everyone's benefit, it is really advisable that every person entering the pool shld take a clean shower.

To rinse off our lotion we may have applied earlier in the day. Or to wash out any hair spray, or hair gel or whatever that may clog up the drains. & for those that do not shower before going swimming can get somewhat clean befor going into the pool.

Unless you use soap, it won't dissolve the "natural oils" on your skin, but it WILL wash off surface dirt, lotions, hairspray, gel, etc...and perhaps encourage you to pee in the shower so you won't contaminate the pool later... *grin*

Cleanliness and to keep fibers and hair from clogging the filters. Remember - if you're going to pee in the pool, don't do it off the diving board.

It also washes off excess perfumes and lotions that you may have on. All that gunk tends to float on the pool after a while.
