It is possible there was a large enough time difference between your at-home tests and your blood test that the pregnancy hormones finally showed up.

Congratulations on your good news! The next 8 months are sure to bring you many surprises and changes.

Sometimes the level of pregnancy hormones in your system isn't enough to detect on commercial pregnancy tests. That is what the pregnancy test is measuring. Everyone's bodies are different in that respect. The blood test is much more effective. Congratulations!!!

Absolutely! It is not uncommon for a woman to get a negative test result, when she is indeed pregnant, even when testing after her period is due.

The biggest reason for getting a negative test result is miscalculating your period. The average menstrual cycle is 28 days. If you are fortunate enough to have a regular 28 day cycle, you would count 28 days from the start of your last menstrual cycle to determine when your next period is due. The problem with this method is two-fold. One, many women do not have a 28 day cycle and two, this does not account for variations in ovulation dates and more importantly the date of implantation.

When I had my pregnancy test at home, it was negative, and at the doctor's it was positive. I told her that I took a home test the night before and it was negative.

She told me that because I took it at night. when having a pregnancy test it is better to have it early in the morning, she gave me the reason but I just don't know how to explain it.

yeah, at home pregnancy tests need a certain level of hcg to get a positve result, but a blood test will show any elevation in hormones. congrats!

Most over-the-counter pregnancy kits can tell your status within four weeks of conception. You, however, must ensure they are used correctly. If you have any doubts, you may see your local pharmacist. To be absolutely sure, you may wish to see your doctor for a blood test.

Doctors tests are more accurate and show pregnancy sooner.

This happens more than you realize. That is why it is always good to follow up with a Dr. The over the counter tests are just not sensitive enough for some women.

that's a weird one though...but i suggest you listen the advice of the doctor and don't depend much of the pregnancy test because sometimes it is not accurate..also i know you can feel it if you are indeed pregnant, you can tell it inside...good luck_c",)
