Most internet companies do not support routers. They will simply tell you to remove the router before doing any sort of troubleshooting with you.

The brand of your router also has a lot to do with it if you are having to power cycle it all the time.

The next time you lose your connection, try this:

Either on the front or back of the router, (usually the back), you will see a tiny hole that says reset. Stick a pushpin or paperclip in the hole until you feel a slight depression, count to ten, and let go.

See if that works.

Cheers

You should not have to do this. I assume you have a router that is separate from and not part of the modem.

The router firmware may be faulty; I have seen this often, especially in the low end home grade routers made by Netgear, D Link, Linksys, etc. Go to the maker's web site and download the latest firmware and load it as directed. USE A WIRED CONNECTION TO THE ROUTER WHEN YOU UPGRADE FIRMWARE.

If you have a modem with an integrated router provided by the ISP contact them for a firmware upgrade or new unit.

I have a router and modem and 5 wired systems and 2 wireless systems and I have only had to unplug them once in 2 to remodel my office.

There is something wrong with your setup somewhere. You should not need to unplug anything unless replacing cables or something.

Yes...definitely. You shouldn't have to keep unplugging it. It could be a flaky modem that needs replaced.
