Not to a stranger, only because if I give one away to someone I didn't know and two years down the road my daughter needed it,I would feel bad that I couldn't save her life. I wouldn't want her to think that my selfless act was the reason she may not make it.

Many living donors generously donate kidneys to strangers, a gift of life. There are great stories of inspiration at www.livingdonorsonline.org.

Yes, I am an organ donor so if I die I will donate all my organs. But no, while living, I would not give away a kidney to a stranger.

I wouldn't donate a kidney to a stranger while I am alive because someone in my family might need it, and I would rather give it to someone I love, if necesary, it would kill me if a kid of mine needed one my kidneys and I didn't have the "spare" piece.

I would CERTAINLY donate blood, bone marrow or even part of my liver to a stranger, as those are "renewable" resources. (I have a bone marrow donnor card, If I am ever found to be a proper match for someone, I'll do it in a heart beat.)

After I am dead, I have already told my family to donate EVERY part of my body that might be useful for someone, even my ears and skin for the burnt.

Since kidney disease runs in my family, I would say no. But I am an organ donor so they can have anything left that is usable when I die.

My brother was a patient for years until he died. My nephew rec'd a new kidney after 4 years as a patient, and my mom is going this week to start PD treatment.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

That's a tough one. I see some other people saying yes but when it came down to it would they really? I'm not sure. For me it would depend on what the circumstances were. Meaning how they long they had to live and how long the healing process would take. I'm being honest when i say id consider it.

For a total stranger, it is hard to do but if i know that he/she will need to survive because he/she has an important task to fulfill for humanity's sake then I will. Without that, I guess not because I might regret it if later my relatives or close friends or even my own blood will need it. I will reserve it for them.
