My boyfriend wants to go to see the Phillies game so I want to find a hotel close to the stadium.

Also, if anyone has ideas of things to see/places to go while we're in Philly I would love the feedback.

We're planning on going in the beginning of July.

Thanks!

Check the link - a similar question is already up, there are MANY good suggestions!

Have fun!

Edit - for a hotel, I would suggest something in Center City near Broad Street - you should have no trouble finding something. They are much more in the middle of things and you can take the Broad Street subway to get to the game - there is a subway stop right at the stadium.

First of all, pack for some hot and humid weather. You may luck out and get a dry, 80* day or so, but 90*+ with humidity is common...may as well be comfortable while you're here, right?

The Phillies' stadium isn't close to anything at all really, except for the airport and a phenominal sandwich joint (Tony Luke's). THere is a Holiday Inn down there, but like I said, outside of the game itself, there's nothing to do within walking distance.

You can, however, crash anywhere close to the subway. The Broad Street Line (Orange) ends at the Sports Complex where the Phillies will be playing and runs through the heart of Center City. There is also the Market-Frankfort Line (Blue) which intersects with the Broad St. Line at City Hall, so that opens up even more of the city for you to stay at while still being able to get to the games easily.

You could always check out Old City and Penn's Landing, since it will be nice out and there's a lot to do around there. Old City is packed with bars and restaraunts and is right next to Penn's Landing, which is Philly's Riverfront. This is all right near Independence Hall as well, where a lot of Philly's history is located...plus, it's just a nice area...tree lined streets, old brick homes, cobblestone roads, etc.

The Art Museum is always nice, and I think it may still be free on Sundays. The area around it is beautiful as well, and there are some quality bars/restaraunts in the area. You can't beat the view down Benjamin Franklin Parkway either.

In all honesty, I've always liked just walking around and looking at everything. There are so many things to do and see for so many different people in the city that it's jhard to nail down one solid set of things to do/see. Try and get yourself to Geno's (or Pat's--across the street), but if you can help it, get drunk first and don't go until 2 am....you'll appreciate it a lot more. There are also a ton of BYO's in the city, as the restaraunt scene here blew up. Check out www.foobooz.com and it's links to find what you're looking for in terms of dinner.

The Philly Zoo is nice, see the Liberty Bell too, Betsy Ross's house. Not Hershey Park though cuz that is about 3-4 hours away from Philly. Type in "Things to do in Philladelphia" in a search engine and you'll come up with something.
Have a great time, no matter what you find to do.

Old City is nice, it's a mile or 2 up Broad St. (which the stadium is on) and there are great restaurants. The art museum is cool if you like that kind of thing. You can see the Liberty Bell (not really all that exciting, it's kinda small). George Washington's house, Ben Franklin's house.

South street at night is fun, it's where all the poster and music shops are with great bars and restaurants, and all the young people walk around at night.
All of these things are around center city which is just north of the stadium.

Def. go to the art museum and the steps that Rocky used in the Rocky series and go up and down it and you will feel like you touched golden stairs!

Go see the liberty bell and go see fireworks by the lake if near July 4th and def. go walk a little while in South Street.

Go to Dave and Busters for dinner one night which one location is right off of the lake.

Have fun!!

Elfred's Alley is the oldest continually occupied street in the country. It's a cobble-stoned street with beautiful homes and shops. Don't miss going there.
