Some people swear there's a difference in the shape of the forehead (male's having a hump and the female's being flat), but this method is pretty unreliable. There's not an "either-or", but a continuous range from one shape to the other. You might be able to identify an extreme, but there's a middle ground that's pretty iffy, plus the characteristic is dependent on their age.

angel fish are like oscars and discus. I've bred them all and the only way to sex them is when their breeding tubes are exposed. Females are bigger and more while males are smaller and narrow.
