Induction is where they use artificial hormones like Pitocin, Prostaglandin, Cervidel, Cytotec or something else usually in conjuntion with rupturing your membrane. The artificial hormones can cause pretty severe contractions because they force your uterus to ,well, contract.Seems to me, in my experience of working in L&D and my own childbirth that the crowning is over quickly, it's the contractions that are most painful. I had an induction with my first and I will fight it tooth and nail , barring some life or death decision, I will not be induced with this one. Some women get lucky and have easy inductions. But since you are foregoing pain meds, you need to think about it. Most women who have inductions get an epidural as well, which makes it alot easier. I did the natural route too, and the pain from those forced contractions SUCKED!!!!!

I think this is a decision that needs to be made by you and your doc. I am a firm believer of letting the baby come when ready unless there is some sort of medical problem. As for having such a big child I thought mine was bad at 8lbs 4oz lol. If you feel it would be best to ask to be induced then by all means do so. Your health is equally important.

epidural make having large babies much more comfortable when delivering have you considered it. There is little risk to the baby. I know it is important to have a natural birth but having a baby full term with meds is better than inducing labor and stand a chance of having a baby with RDS. So speak with your doctor. It is most likely he will not induce early just to make your delivery comfortable.

Yes you should. My 3rd baby came out being 9lbs 3 oz, the doctor let me go a full 2 weeks late( I still had to be induced). She should have known better and induced me at 40 weeks. She knew my 1st baby weighed 7lb 3 oz and my 2nd baby came 2 days early and weighed 7lb 11 oz. I only was a weight of 113 lbs too!
I would definately discuss being induced with your doctor.
It was very diffucult for me to push that huge baby out.

No you must on no account set off and not using a well rationale. His rationale is so that you can do it only for the heck of it? I do not rather realize what to consider of a health care provider like that! Nothing in opposition to you hun however he won't also be speaking induction until there's a rationale. My water broke for my first child and I used to be triggered. The anguish from triggered contractions is such a lot worse than simply having them occur certainly! I later learned that I did not need to be triggered that typically after your water breaks you begin hard work certainly however it appears I used to be at an induction joyful medical institution! My moment baby used to be an induction in order that my husband would be there. We have been presently dwelling seven-hundred miles clear of every different and we desired to be in combination. It used to be four days earlier than my due date and I used to be already dialated to four cm. But the child wasn't doing good at the induction so we close it off after eight mins. But fortunately my frame saved up the contractions and the child had no difficulty. I am now pregnant with my 3rd and induction isn't an choice with no foremost rationale!

I think its better to go naturally I know I was in a lot less pain before they started the pictocin b/c I wasn't progressing and the pain almost immediately doubled by the time the anesthesiologist came w/ the pain meds I was crying and I have a pretty high pain tolerance.

If you want natural birth, then why wouldn't you want the baby to come when it's naturally right for him to come? As for your baby and what you said....would you really want your child to know that you induced labor because you didn't want him to be big? That's like saying you don't want a fat kid or something. God will decided when your baby is to born.
