someone told me the underlying joke was that all of those kids from scooby doo were high so thats why their dog was talking and they were chasing ghosts. That broke my heart, say it ain't so!!

Yes, basically they are a bunch of weed smoking hippies, that drive around in a van.
If you notice when the van pulls away, there's always smoke coming out the windows.
And Scooby and Shaggy always have the munchies.
And the dog talks, but no one else of the characters they meet can understand him.

scooby doo's not about being high....but the cartoonists did play on the fact that some might be into the wacky-backy.....well for scooby and shaggy for sure.... why you think they've always got the munchies???
