Ok so im wanting to run two routers in my house and i have one router downstairs and one upstairs. the one downstairs is plugged into the plug-in that my IP set up and i ran a CAD5 cable up stairs and into my other router. i can access the internet on the one downstairs but cant get any internet on the one upstairs... Any one know why this is?

It sounds like on the second router you have the ethernet cable from the first router plugged into the WAN port.

1) Connect the ethernet cable from the 1st router to one of the second routers regular ethernet ports.

2) Also log into the second routers config and turn off the DHCP server. Let the 1st routers DHCP Server handle all the IP assignments.

do not use two routers as routers simple as that
Use router one to connect
Turn off the dhcp in router number 2
Run a cable from the lan port of router one to a LAN PORT (Not the Single WAN port) of modem number 2.
The router will use router number 2 as a hub and think that it has 6 or 7 lan ports
( standard wirless ports are 250 or so wireless ports)
If you use router number 2 as a router - you will have two routing tables - nothing but confusion city and erratic results
