perhaps not child abuse in the usual sense, but children live in a magical world at this age. Therefore they would believe such a story, and be more upset by it then you may believe. You may think what you said was funny, but it will be remembered by your child forever. Do you really want this? I don't think so. Why not let your child help feed the dog, but give her/him a cracker or small treat to eat too.

No, I don't think that is child abuse at all. But, you are lying to her and that is not right at all. Just tell her dog food and treats are bad for her and that if she eats them she might or will get sick. It is kind of funney that you told her that though, did she believe you?

It may not be abuse, but you really want to treat your children the way you want to be treated.
That's a little to much of messing with her head, and contrary to what someone else said, they will remember. Kids are amazing on what they retain.
Best course of action is to teach to the behavior and always be truthful. Tell her why she shouldn't eat the dog food.

That's perfectly legal and acceptable to do.
Small children take delight in driving the big people insane, so you have to use whatever is handy at the time to defend yourself.

No that is not child abuse. If you were calling her stupid or something of that nature for doing such a thing then it would be verbal abuse.
But that is a good one I will have to remember that one for my two year old!

i think it hilarious. when my lil sis was about 3, she thought she was a puppy for about 2 weeks. all she wanted to eat was kibble. then she moved on to being a pony, and all she would eat was carrots. my youngest son went through the puppy phase too. whenever he'd try to talk to us, we'd say we couldn't understand him unless he barked. lol.
EDITS: lighten up you thumbs down ppl
