First of all know what kind of tank you have when you buy fish
If you have a heater in your tank, you can put tropical fish in it, also check about their aggressivness when you buy them, not all fish get along with each other.
Get a Testkit for amonia and an allaround test kit and check your water. It's going to tell you exactly what you need to do and what you're doing wrong.
Good luck

Make sure to use filtered water, and replace the water weekly. And DON'T use soap to clean it unless your entirely sure all of it is washed off. Also goldfish are cold water fish so If I were you I wouldn't worry about the temperature. Also sometimes the water is to acidic or the pH is low, or the nitrate level is high. Ask your local pet store for a water test, and bring some water from the tank there. You can also buy test kits so you can do it at home. If your goldfish is kept in a tank with lots of other goldfish they were probably sick or they had a disease. If you want to try other types I would definitely recommend a Betta. Betta's are very hardy and they are low maintenance, live a good time, and are very pretty looking fish with all sorts of colors on them. Good luck

It may be that you are just getting the wrong fish, they may be sick or mabey you are getting warmwater/coldwater fish and you have the opposite tank. Make sure that you are cleaning their water often and some de-chlorine tablets wouldn't be bad.

Does your water quality in check? What is the temperature of the water? A lot of different things might be causing this. Provide anything that you think will matter.

Make sure they dont get direct sunlight. If they are tropical fish it may be to cold outside. Make sure it has a cover or mosquitoes will lay eggs in it :/

Get a test kit and check your water - had same problem it turned out the rocks were making the water acidic.

Maybe the fish you keep aren't suited for the climate you live in.
