Johnny Depp. Jack is a good actor but he is always "Jack" His characters seem to run in to each other, like Tom Cruise or Al Paccino. Johnny manages to be totally different in each character. You have to see each movie because you never know what to expect from him.

I think that while Jack Nicholson is a living legend, pretty much all the acting he does is Jack Nicholson with a different name. Johnny Depp does tons of completely different characters- I mean Pirates of the Caribbean and Once Upon a Time in Mexico in the same summer? I think when both careers are done and we can see all the acting choices they have made, Depp will have the more varied career and memorable movies.

How can you compare the two until Johnny Depp has matured enough to try and fill the roles that Jack Nicholson has done? Johnny is drop dead gorgeous there is no doubting that, and, he has played some very good parts. (By the way I LOATHE POTC and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)!
I personally preferred him in Nick of Time, or when he was very young in Benny and June.Jack in turn has played some good parts, and for my mind I will never forget him for On Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest..His performance in that was masterful and beautiful and until I see Johnny take on such a role my vote would have to be for Jack. And, I don't like him very much!

When Johnny Depp is as old as Jack Nicholson, I think it will be safe to say that he is a better actor. But as for now Jack Nicholson is a legend, and Johnny is not.

Here's the answer I'm seeing (mostly)-
If you're a woman, Johnny Depp is the better actor.
If you're a guy, Jack Nicholson.
Being a girl, my vote is for Mr. Depp, of course!
