I really need help with this question. I just cannot figure it out because I get 22.8 students, but that isn't a right answer. How can I get a while number? Thank you so much!

A school bus holds 57 students but is only 40% full. How many students are on the bus?

Obviously the answer needs to be rounded to a whole number. The bus cannot be exactly 40% full. If you make your answer 23 students, that is 40.35%, so it's closer to 40% than 41%.

When a percentage is given without decimals, it will often not be exact. Look at your percentage of Best Answers on this site. That is given only to an integer, and that integer covers a wide range of numbers.

You are doing the correct formula, but because we can not be split up, 22 or 23 would be your answer, depending on how you round the number. I would say 22, because it isn't quite 23 people.

You should be rounding off, I'd say 22% because your talking about physical beings that can't be reduced to a percentage of itself. It will always be one person holding a percentage.
