Do you find it strange that someone would choose to be a clown for a living?

I am a clown and yes..I do it for a living BUT, I also do a lot of charity/volunteer work and help sick kids etc. My pay is high but when I do free-bees it kinda evens out. People make fun of us and we let it slide. Some people say they are scared of clowns but we understand and carefully avoid them because we understand that it's probably because of the movies their families let them watch when they were too young to understand that it's not true...only a story. Or, someone scared them bad while dressed up as a clown. The one story that WAS true comes up over and over. People say, "Remember John Wayne Gacy? He was a clown." Yeah, the worst kind but those kinds are few and far between. Maybe there might be a bad clown out there somewhere but I don't think it would be a woman. Just like there are bad priests but have you ever heard of a bad nun? (sigh) Wow! Thanks for letting me tell my side for once..

No, I can't think of anyone that I have ever known that tried to make their living by being a clown...

My dad was a clown for years while I was growing up. I loved it. He was always happy go lucky. He even went to my kindergarten class and made balloon animals for all my classmates. And yes, I did respect my dad and still do. He would go to the hospitals and paint the children's faces into clowns, do yo-yo tricks for them, pass out candy to those who could have it for those who couldn't he gave change to. My dad did lots of work for children's charities. Yep, my dad was great.

There was a man in our town who was the "town clown" for decades. He did charity events, parties and was a fireman also. Everyone knew him. He was great.
