It takes about a year, sometimes a little more to regualte. If you are still worried, speak to your doctor about it and not strangers on the net who have no medical background.

Well I am an adult and yes it is normal for your periods to be irregular. You are still young which makes it even more common. There are grown women whose periods are unpredictable. Always keep tampons with you and don't worry. It may become more regular as grow but it may not. It is only an average that women have a period every month. I did not have a regular period until I started using birthcontrol. If you are really bothered by not knowing when you will get the next period talk to your parents about BC.

Because you are just starting out with having periods it is quite normal for them to be irregular for a spell (like the last poster said about 2 years or so).

Keep a diary that tracks your periods. This will also help you in the future in case a problem should possibly arise and then make it easier for the dr to try and help you find the problem if you have one.

Please also talk to your mom for even more information. In the mean time here's a site that may have even more information to help you: http://www.girlshealth.gov

It's normal. When I first started, I had my period for about 2 months in a row. After that, I didn't have it for a while and my parents were worried. At my physical, I asked my doctor and he said it was normal and that sometimes it may be up to four months before you start up again. It will take a while before you are regular.

It's normal for your period to be irregular the first couple of years that you have it. Your body is still trying to regulate it's hormones and you can go a few months without periods sometimes. It's very normal.

It takes forever for your period to reach a normal cycle. I've had mine for 3 years (i'm 14) and they've NEVER been regular. Just kick back and relax, it'll figure itself out.

Unless something funky, like smelly discharge or something like that is going on, then go to a doctor!

It may be normal. For some women, it can take a few years to get on a regular schedule. It can be possible for you to get pregnant, because you can't predict right now when you're ovulating -- be careful there!
