It is highly unlikely, but it is not impossible, especially if you have a history in your family. It's better to be safe than sorry. Discuss this with your closest family member and have them take you to a doctor as soon as possible. Even if it's not breast cancer, it could be something else. Be safe and get it checked out.

The fact that you are having pain there in your breast needs to be checked out by a dr.
Also, breast cancer doesn't always hurt when it causes problems. A family member of mine was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and it didn't hurt.
It is also pretty normal for a younger woman's breasts to be lumpy. But because of the pain I would definitely recommend that you have this checked out by your dr.
But please also tell your mom because she can give you additional information and help.
I had some issues with my breast at 26 that was in part caused by medication but I also ended up with a condition called costochondritis which can cause pain around the breast area. This condition is an inflammation (kind of like an infection but isn't necessarily an infection) of the cartillage around the ribcage. It can cause a lot of different symptoms including for some thinking they are having a heart attack when there isn't a heart attack going on.
If you have any other questions for me please feel free to e-mail or IM me away from the board any time.

You're probably freaking out. There's lymph nodes around the outside of your breasts. You could also be feeling muscle (if your breasts are small) or fat globules (if they're bigger). It could be a cyst, it could be a million things. Those knifing pains usually go away after a while and is probably from your nerves trying to lengthen as you're growing. Just because your mom had breast cancer does not mean you will and you're really young. If you're really worried, talk to your mom about it and express your feelings and possibly go to a doctor for peace of mind.

The possibilities of you getting breast melanoma are a lot smaller at your age, nevertheless I think it is possible. That's why they shouldn't have essential breast exams except you are forty. It very well could be a cyst, which is generally the more seemingly of the 2. You might as good get it checked out by way of the health care provider...He'll help you be aware of what it's for certain and put your mind cozy.

It is unlikely but not impossible, and YES, you should go and see a doctor.
While it is probably not cancer, it could be one of about three other things I can think of right away and each one of them needs to be treated.
