I comes to that pretty often. First $10 Dollars for gas. Not much gas. Go to the dollar store and get a box of snack cakes. 1 for lunch each day. Bananas for breakfast about .48 cents a pound. You can usually get yougurt on sale which makes a good snack say 4 for a dollar. 1 loaf of bread. Now for sandwich meat you get the carl buddings brand that is usually 2 for a dollar. Lets see thats about 5 dollars. Look at can goods specifically 2 or 3 for a dollar. If you buy the generic vegall and have a crock pot you can make soup and that will last all week. For $3 dollars you will have to dig for this but get a pound of ground beef and you have to make it stretch so it would be best to use a little with soup.

Well I would use that $20 to buy me a whole load of lottery tickets. Then when I win I could buy whatever I want and still have a $20 note. Yahoo!

Allowing that you are indicating food purchases, and not transportation costs, or some necessities, I would purchase rice, beans, and pasta. You can eat these individually, or mix the beans with either rice or pasta. The meals may be boring, but they are filling, and will give you energy.

A big jar of peanut butter.

Or a big sign that says "Will work for food" then I would stand by a freeway offramp and take donations all day long.
