i am in a wheelchair i have been in it all my life i will always be in it but why do people make fun of me for it?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

If people make fun of you for being in a wheelchair, then they are really jerks. Do not hang out with them, do not talk to them, have absolutely nothing to do with them. They are a waste of your time and energy. There are much better people in the world and you ought to chill with them. There are weirdnesses about everybody, the fact that you are in a wheelchair, is an aspect of your physical personality. You can work it. You are probably smart, and so you can figure out how to use it to your advantage. It makes you unique. So, if people make fun of you, ignore them. You don't have to waste your time on jerks. Do your own thing and learn how to look at people with a discerning eye when they treat you badly. They'll start to realize how much they are embarassing themselves.

I am so sorry that you are subject to people like this. I am a handicapped person as well. People having been looking at me all my life, for one reason or another. When I was in grammar school, the other kids looked at me cuz they didn't understand why i came to school in a cab, or could not participate in gym or games. In jr. and sr. high, kids would stare at me cuz I used to leave class 5 minutes early to get to my next class before the others, and someone used to carry my books for me. I college, things were very different. Maybe because there were a variety of people that went to college. They were more understanding, and educated.
Wherever you are in your life, don't let other people get the best of us. People can be very cruel and insensitive about things they know nothing about.
Chin up!!!! I'm sure your true friends, and family love you for the person you are.

It has nothing to do with you. People sometimes make fun of others because they are different and they don't know how to deal with people who are different, so they make fun, because they don't take into perspective, this persons feelings. A lot of people do it to look big in thier peers eyes, or to go along with the flow. Any and all of these reasons are WRONG, and there is no sense in it. Everyone should be treated equeally, regardless of thier handicap. Some people are just childish and immature. Nothing makes it right for them to make fun of you. I apologize on behalf of all those jerks out there who do make fun of you. That is one thing I have ALWAYS been against, is people who make fun of others. You are special, you were created in the image of God, and He has a purpose for you. Just try your best to ignore all the ignorance that people hand out. I pray that whatever has you confined to the wheel chair, that God heals you, and you don't have to be in one forever. Never lose hope, NOTHING is too small or too BIG for God. God Bless

They are just Mean Cruel people! If they make fun of you in front of you say "Oh, sorry I didn't know that you wanted to be in a wheelchair like me because i get to have fun and spin around and look at these pumps! (pumps=arms)! Good luck!

Most people get made fun of and people in wheelchairs are no exception. As the wise Dr Seuss once said 'Those that mind don't matter, those that matter don't mind'.

People are uncomfortable with situations that either they fear, or don't understand. Unfortunately, these individuals often resort to "humor" in an attempt to portray themselves as being more enlightened. This humor is most often insensitive and uninformed. The sad thing is that anyone who would make fun of ANY impaired individual is actually the one who is truly emotionally and intellectually impaired.

Because they are mean heartless people. They should think that they are going to have kids sooner or later and they should want them happy and healthy. Plus they have thier life to live who knows when they may need a wheelchair! I just tihnk its really mean and heartless to make fun of someone with a disability...

People are stupid and inconsiderate. It's not like it was your choice.They like putting other people down and they do not even think for a second about how it may make the other person feel. If there is something there to make fun of, people will attack it.
