I have been on the depo injection for nearly 6 months now and am nearing the date of my third injection. I had a tiny bit of blood spotting in the first 12 weeks, but now i'm having an increased amount, especially after intercourse. It looks exactly like a period, but i have never had a period whilst on this injection! I'm abit worried becuase i've been reading all sorts of internet extracts that say i could have a disease or could be pregnant, but i've only even had intercourse with my boyfriend and i've never been late for an injection. Can anyone provide any information please?

Yes, it's possible that this could still be related to the Depo-Provera. Breakthrough bleeding can be a side effect from the medication. I found that out from the assistant that used to work for my gynecologist and other women who have taken the shot.

I would recommend checking with your dr anyway to see what they think.

Yes, it is normal. I have had the exact same thing happen to me. I was fine after my first shot, and I began spotting after my second. I would also bleed after intercourse. Like you, I was worried about this. I would call to make an appointment with your OBGYN or your local health clinic. They may suggest that you try and continue the shot, or they may suggest that you change forms of birth control. My doctor put me on a low-hormone birth control pill as well as the shot just to regulate my period, and it worked! So I promise you there is hope, and it is normal, just a pain in the butt. I would definitely suggest making an appointment as soon as possible though.

Talk with your doc before you get your next injection....that is the smartest thing to do.
