The Mayan Calendar. The Mayan's picked December 21st, 2012 A.D. as the last day in their calendar. I know a lot of people say the world is going to end at this or that date, and they were wrong. But just cause everyone so far has been wrong, that doesn't make the Mayan's wrong. Well, anyway if the world were to end 12/21/12 how do you think it would end?

I don't think it's impossible that the Mayans predicted the end of the world on December 21, 2012, but I doubt it will happen. I think it's more speculation by modern humanity than an ancient Mayan prediction though. After all, the way their calender works mathematically it stops on 12/21/2012.
Who knows, stranger things have happened.

After extensive research into the 2012 phenomenon, I've come to the same conclusion as many others, which is that the Mayan 2012 date refers to the end of an era, not the end of the world. Some modern scholars have presumed that because the Mayan Long-Count Calendar was not calculated past the Winter Solstice of 2012, that these people believed that the world would end on that date-which is something of a jump in logic.

The Mayans assigned each "Age" of humanity to a particular god, which they believed described the historical and spiritual forces that shaped that particular period of time.

The Winter Solstice of 2012 corresponds to the alignment of the Solstice Sun with the galactic center (a dark, almond-shaped void in the center of the Milky Way). To the ancient Mayans, this event represented the birth/return of Quetzocoatl, the feathered serpent god of resurrection and enlightenment. Supposedley, this alignment will usher in an era of wisdom and spiritual development. Personally, I'll just let history take its course and judge for myself as the story unfolds.

It is interesting to note that other ancient cultures made a great fuss about the coming alignment, including the Kali-Yuga school of Hinduism.

2012 is not a doomsday prophecy, it is simply the end of the Mayan long count calender..
It re-sets back to zero at the completion of 13 Baktuns, so it is the beginning of a new age, it is the age of Aquarius...
1 Baktun = 144,000 days..
13 Baktuns = 5,125 years..
I have read hundreds of theories as to what will happen, the most popular being that we will evolve spiritually..
Some say we will enter the 4th dimension, some say the 5th..

Regardless of what mainstream religion thinks, like the 2nd coming of the alleged Christ...
It is here and it is almost now, and nothing is going to stop it, nothing...
I wish I was younger, so I could experience it for most of my life.. It won't just happen over night, but it will happen...

Also time has sped up, and that is a dead-set scientific fact, it is said that we are experiencing about 18 hour days at present.. The USAF and NASSA used a certain calculation with their radar systems and since 1984 (when The Shift started) have been unable to use it as it is climbing... That takes us back to the 13 Baktuns...
*Curiously the Indigo/Crystal Children also started to be born World-wide in 1984....

The Buddha has stated that "it is certain that we will all die, the time is most uncertain" so make the most of the time you do have in this life to improve your life and try to become a happy person. You have no idea if you will make it to 2012. the world could end for you tomorrow. Why worry about the future that doesn't exist and concentrate on the present moment that does exist and you can exert influence over.

When the world will end is a very unimportant question. It is how you live this life, this moment.

The Mayan calender does not predict the end of the world. It is the end of an age and the beginning of a new age... During that time there is a lot of upheaval, trails, and judgements of the people of the earth, but the world doen not end.

Of course this is all based on the Mayan culture and religion.

The Prophesies say that the world will end as we know it. To be proved, we will just have to see. 2012 - 2013 is also supposed to be, "The thousand years of peace." Technology is supposed to become so advanced that the earth will be changes into a space craft and go out into the Universe, populating the planets as it goes. This is fantastic information. This will all be led by The King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The third dimension is supposed to change to a 4th and then to a fifth dimension. We will change in a twinkling of an Eye by photon rays . All will be made new. We will become light beings and live on light, like plants. We will just have to wait and see.
Jesus said not to fear. So I'm just waiting to see what I have read happens. Just because they have said something does not make it written in stone. Free will also plays a part in Humanity. It may take such divine intervention to straighten this old human kind out, who are not very Kind!

like some others said, it wil be the end of an era, but its sad that the've never (to my knowledge) been wrong about anything makes it something to look into. As time passes, chage happens. Change does not come easy, so I guess there will be some big event that "changes the course of history" and changes the way we see things and live. It might seem really bad, but in the long run, it would have been for the better of "humanity"

I would end in a horrible way.
Kids would cry pain will
be everywhere. Just like Pompeii
but only worse. But all i am hoping
is not to die when i am 15.
So i hope the world gets to 3000.
It's suppose to be a long happy
life. So live it before it lasts.
