I've closed and opened my pool three years in a row and it's always green and I always have to spend a lot of $ to get the water right. I close my pool correctly, to the letter! I'm thinking it might be best to empty out my pool when I'm ready to open it, then fill my pool up with a garden hose. I would save money doing this!

We always empty ours, we close it correctly too, and it stays green as well. The past two years we have drained and refilled

If it freezes there, don't drain it. If you keep water in it, shock it with chlorine.
