That's how I got all three of my dogs.
They were strays just walking around the neighborhood at different times, and I took them in

Yes. It was my birthday back in 2003, and it was snow all over the ground. I was going to my mother's house when I saw a little puppy running down the side of the road. I stopped and picked him up. He was so cold an dhungry, and had a little scar above his eye. I kept him and named him Scarface (Scar for short). He is such a sweetheart. I still have him.

All, but 2 of my dogs were strays - I found a long-haired Chihuhua 12 years ago in a parking lot and still have him, used to have a Cairn terrier that ran our neighborhood for awhile, had 3 Poms - 1 from the animal shelter and 2 from Pom Rescue...they are the best pets and so grateful to have a good home

There was a cat that used to hang around the restaurant that I worked at and I fed him for about a week. He was super skinny, super frightened with a broken tail and I felt so guilty about him being cold at night that I eventually took him home. I only lived across the intersection from the restaurant and when I went to work he would cross this crazy busy road halfway through service and come in for a feed. I had a daredevil cat with a palate refined for fresh salmon and tuna and beef on my hands. Yikes. 10 years on we're still best buds and the by the way that we found each other, I reckon he's a soul mate. He's really sick now and it's breaking my heart.

Yes - a pit bull that was roaming the neighborhood - everyone was afraid of him and there were all these horror stories about him. I took one look at him and knew he was friendly - I walked right up and let him sniff my hand. Max was a great dog.

Yes! We have a dog and we found her on the streets. After a few weeks of trying to find her owner, we finally declared her ours! She is a great dog with an amazing personality! It comes to show that your dog does not have to be a pure bred to be a great family pet!

Many a cat and dog, unfortunately the dogs I have now aren't animal friendly so I can't keep them, if I find them, I feed them, get them vet checked and find either their home or a new one.
