I think it would be more valuable to make it into something, like you can get it mounted for a necklace or a keychain, since he found it and he likes it. we have alot of old coins, but the "value" is only like $10 at the most, and I don't see the point of parting with them for so little, after grandpa enjoyed collecting and saving them for all these years. We have so many I'm thinking of putting them under a glass top coffee table...

The penny could be worth some money depending on the condition of it and if it has the letter D or S by the 1927. The best thing would be to do if you can is to take it to a local coin dealer so they can look at it to see for sure how much it might be worth.

RE:
Are old pennies really worth anything?
My boyfriend found a 1927 penny and I'm trying to tell him it's not worth anything. He insists it may be worth a couple bucks. . .anyone know for sure?

Yes, it's worth a couple of bucks, the longer you keep it, the more expensive it is going to be. If you hold on to oi until the 2027, the penny will be 100 years old and you will get a lot more money.

There are some pennies that are worth a lot more. Go to the library and get a coin collection book.

The penny isn't really worth anything. Or at least I don't think it is. Wait a little longer on Answers to see if anybody says yes. Then sell it on eBay or have him keep it, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Depending on mint mark and condition, a 1927 penny can be worth anywhere from .01 to $23500 (if you can find a buyer). Don't get excited, odds are that it is worth less than a buck.

It is valued at .06 in grade good to a dollar in grade extra fine. This is about what a dealer will pay. It is worth more if the coin is in mint state. A 144,440,000 were minted so it is not a scarce date. It was minted before the stock market crash and people were have a good time. It was a year that warning signs showed up but they were ignored.

It is worth 1 cent, which is exactly how much it was worth in 1927.
