It's always reaffirming to see you're not the only one thinking this way. As I answered in another post, it seems that the league leadership is just going to keep taking the short dollar until the NHL implodes on itself and the pieces are left to be picked up by someone else.

What will it take for me to turn my back on the sport that is woven into the fabric of my life? I don't have the answer, but I'm certain this dangerous path the league is taking with such reckless abandon will eventually bring me to that breaking point.

The NHL should have a team in Chicago-LOL. The man behind the Las Vegas plan put millions of bums in movie theater seats, maybe he could do the same with hockey. If Depp wants to make pirate flick #4 he had better show up for a game or two.

As long as there are billionaires who want to throw their money away, does it even matter if there are empty seats and the game is on Versus? When Balsille paid 240 million for the Preds, he made a NHL expansion franchise fee worth about 200 million. The other owners would like to get a cut of that loot while the getting is good.

I agree 100%, and I hate it! I especially agree that the NHL shouldn't "disperse the talent," but the worst part is what expansion does to the guys who already play--It doesn't seem fair to force them onto unsuporting cities. I've heard several players say in interviews that they really like playing away games in Canada, where everyone is so responsive and people CARE about hockey (even if those people aren't exactly rooting for the players who later make those comments).

Sad.

A good article.

I've said for a long time that 30 teams would be okay if they were in the right markets. 32 teams is ridiculous!

Despite the fact that nobody outside of Ontario knows where Kitchener-Waterloo is it will be a rich team right from the start.

The Truth! Take teams away, but NOT THE LIGHTNING. The panthers can go, but the Lightning mean so much to people here in Tampa. It's the only team that actually does well consistently.

Roenick left in the mid-90's and who ever didn't leave before soon followed and the team hasn't been the same. I also belive Hasek and Belfour left around the same time

yea but dont take my caps or my stars away, even if i have to be the only 1 at verizon center i'll still be a caps fan. The caps are popular within a week of going on sale they sold ot of tickets to their ner jersey unvieling/ draft day party.

Just what the league needs--two more teams for no one to go see play.
