im not sure if this is pms or start of my depression agian. Last night and all day today, I have been crying [i NEVER cry], Ive been feeling really down, I think my boyfriend would be better off without me and I also have felt the urge to cut [im a recovering cutter] although its a very hard urge to overcome, I still havent done it. Is this PMS or should I go to the doctor?

hmmm.. well, it sounds like it could be either. Have you been depressed for a while? When did you start feeling better? If it was a while ago, you're probably just starting pms. If you just recently got over your depression, you could be lapsing back into it.
Since it came on so suddenly, it reminds me of pms. Usually lapsing back into depression is a bit more gradual.
I know it's hard not to cut, I'm a recovering cutter myself. Please dont, okay? I've found that when I'm depressed and I do give in and cut (hasn't happened for a while, but you know what I mean) I end up feeling more depressed because I broke this promise to myself and to my loved ones. It just spirals down from there.
If you feel like it's more than pms, i guess go ahead and go to your doctor. Talk to them about it.

Good luck hun!

Depression

Are you taking any anti-depressants or any other type of stimulant that would cause you to crash? That could cause extreme depression. Also, PMS symptoms can be very severe, but they can be treated with progesterone. I would go to a doctor to have your hormones tested. Anything that is causing you to think about reverting back to your old ways should be taken seriously. Hope you start feeling better :)

Well, PMS certainly does change your moods. Everybody's different so there's a chance it could be due to PMS. When you say you NEVER cry...it has to make me wonder... If you haven't cried during your previous periods..then why would you all of a sudden cry for this one? You might want to consider seeing a doctor for depression.

I agree with the one poster that said that this could be related to depression. But the only way to know for sure is to have this situation evaluated by your dr to see what they think is going on. They can also tell you whether or not something physical like a hormone imbalance could be causing this.

If you need to talk please feel free to e-mail or IM me away from the board.

I would wait to see if this feeling passes. It should pass within a week. If it does not I would go see your doctor.
