The first to check is if it got muted. On the lower right hand of your screen you will see several small icons. One is a speaker. Double (right click) that. It will open the volume controls. Make sure they are not muted.

If they are not muted the next thing to check is your sound card and speakers. If you an extra set of speaks try plugging them and see if they work. Then you will know if it is the sound card of the speakers.

Look at the back of your PC. If your sound is towards the bottom in a horiztontal slot you a sound card that is seperate from the mother board. See if you have towards the middle too that is built in. If you do try plugging your speakers in there.

If none of that works I would suggest buying a new card. They are very inexpensive. If you know about computers you get a cheap one and pop it in (with the computer unplugged of course). If you don't take it to best buy. They install them cheaply and can make sure you get the right sound card.

Hope I was able to help.

Sound can be a problem

first go into the control panel > sound look at the controls
It may be real simple

check the sound is not "muted "
A switch on a keyboard can do this

- check the volume levels are ok
- check that the right device is pointed to for audio
- it can be set to a headset for example as the sound device

if all the above is ok
or in the device for the sound you do not even see the device
then

check to see if the device driver is installed or even enabled for the device driver

my computer > right click > properties

> hardware > device driver

look for your sound drivers
there should not be any exclamation or question marks beside the name of the device

you may only have to right click to enable if they were accidentally disabled

Look to say " the device is working properly"

If the driver is not installed you will have to download it and install

- if it is on a motherboard ( the sound is built in)\
go to maker of the motherboard / support or drivers

if not try

You can find out the hardware by using either of these diagnostic programs:

You can use the audio setup wizard in msn messenger to easily check sound - very handy

Firstly open up the volume control and ensure nothing is muted, if you have speakers attached make sure they are working, try another set if you have them, after all else fails open your computer and replace the sound card, depending on what type of computer you have, this is not difficult and can be found by the the plugs in the back of it for speakers, microphone etc
