Hello, Me and my friend currently rent part of a house in Radnor Township, PA. We have a small kitchen with a mud room next to it. We hardly ever cook, and when we do its with a george foreman grill, so we don't need the bulky stove that sits off the side of one of the counters. We really want more space to hang out, so we would like to move the (gas) oven to the mud room, without having it hooked up, along with the electric refrigerator which will be hooked up. The landlord's only objection to this is that he doesn't know if this will get him in trouble in an inspection because there will be no sink in there, and the oven will not be hooked up. Does anyone know if the apartment will still be rentable without the oven hooked up and the sink in another room? Are there other issues that i dont even see?

I depends if it is a HUD approved home, if it is then things are held to a higher standard, one of those is that they will have to be hooked up. If not then it does not matter, many places are rented out without stove and fridge.

To add to the other poster. Hud does have tighter restrictions you have to have one working burner on the stove. Now we have done loans without a stove where you just get one of the burners that plug in and work. Im not sure george forman grill will work but I dont think you need a stove just a place where you can actually heat food.

You can get one of those for 20 bucks at any store.

Kitchen Permit Requirements
This permit will allow a new Kitchen or a repair of an existing Kitchen. A permit is required whenever kitchen cabinets are replaced or added. No permit is needed for countertop replacement or re-facing of existing cabinets. minimum of two inspections are required for kitchen remodels. A rough electrical inspection should be scheduled after the electrical boxes are installed and before any devices are connected. Any other structural, mechanical, or plumbing alterations should also be scheduled for a rough inspection. The final inspection should be scheduled after all the work is completed.
