Their bodies decompose or are cremated. The minds cease to function as the mind can only operate with the support of the body. As for souls, who knows? There is no evidence of any kind to indicate such a thing exists. There is no proof that the soul does not exist either.
If the soul does not exist, there is no further discussion. If the soul does exist, the opinion as to where it goes depends on which religion you subscribe to. In the Christian view it ascends to heaven, wherever that is. The great continuum, the here after or water ever term you prefer.
Well I guess there's also the "other place" (wherever that is). Apparently it is hot there, although how you would feel that without skin (souls don't have an epidermis, right?) or nerve endings I don't know either.
Oh, I almost forgot - you could be reincarnated, but people only seem to know about their reincarnation under the influence of hypnosis. So whatever, you learned in your previous incarnation doesn't do you much good.
Sorry - all these answers seem pretty unsatisfactory to me.

I believe we all have souls and an afterlife.
I also believe that our limited mortal brains cannot even begin to imagine what things like "eternity" are really like. I don't subscribe to the Christian belief in some sort of pearly gates, but I firmly believe that we go to some other plane outside of this reality. To me, God is not some giant bearded man wearing a robe and sitting on a throne -- that kind of a limiting view of what I consider to be an omnipotent force in the universe and beyond. [Oy, now I sound like a "Star Wars" enthusiast.]
I can't imagine being an atheist and thinking we simply cease to exist when we die; I'd find that too hopeless and depressing.

The body goes to the maggots and blow flies unless incinerated. Whatever it is that makes a person a person and lets them interact with the universe is open for debate. Some say it gets recycled, others that it gets parked somewhere for the rest of eternity. In the latter category, I'd like to know where it was parked before it became the person who died.

They go no where but they are either buried or cremated. The soul or the spirit leaves the body and enters another body that is ready to start the new journey.

I'm a committed Christian. I believe in the after life. Jesus said to the thief on the cross "Tonight , you will be with Me in paradise." I believe in Heaven and Hell. Hope this helps.

Nowhere yet. But the time will come when they are resurrected and they will be told where they will spend all eternity as well as those who are still living.
