Is there a program that can increase the volume of my comp?

I know that my computer speakers can handle more audio output but how can i increase it when ALL the options for audio are increased.. i even right clicked my songs in itunes and highered the volume on individual songs. I know the speakers can go louder because they do when i plug my ipod into them. Is there a program that can increase the udio out put or is there a way to hack my audio output?

You probably need a better soundcard than what you have to get more volume out of your computer.
