I am going on a trip to Cedar Point in a few weeks and I want to know what I should do. My eyesight is abysmal, so I have to wear glasses or contacts at all times.

For years, I've worn glasses to Cedar Point, and just worn a glasses strap when I go on the rides. But I don't have a glasses strap anymore, and that always bends the frames. Also, it is uncomfortable to wear and the last time I used a glasses strap I ended up dropping my glasses into the lake anyway.

So contacts would seem the obvious answer, especially since I could wear sunglasses if I wore contacts. (Yes, then I'd have to wear a glasses strap for those or put them in my bag, and I could do that with my glasses, but never mind that!) I am afraid, though, that if I am riding a rollercoaster my contacts will get blown out of my eyes, or dirt will get blown behind them. My aunt wears contacts and she shuts her eyes on coasters, but I would never do that... it takes all the fun out of it.

What should I do?

I wanted to wear those science lab goggles, but my mom says they won't stay on my head. And I don't have any swimming goggles.

I've worn contacts on coasters many a times with no problems. If you're worried about losing them, bring an extra pair if you have them, and stash them in your bag. Also, bring some eye drops if you're worried about your eyes drying out, but really, you shouldn't have any problems. I'd be more afraid of losing my glasses than my contacts on coasters.

I rode coasters (with my eyes open) with my contacts for the first time not too long ago, and I was worried about the same things. But my contacts were fine--and much more convenient than glasses. Nothing got stuck on them, my eyes didn't get dry at all, and they definitely didn't fly out. So I would just wear the contacts. If you have sensitive eyes, your eyes might dry out a little, so bring drops if that worries you.

Have fun!!

well i was going to say just dont wear glasses on the rides but i guess it wouldnt do any good. well in a few weeks you could get a strap or some goggles. i take my glasses off but that is because i have below average sight. if you do get contacts you should be fine, but just in case you should bring your glasses.

I've worn contacts for 10 years now, since 13. I have been on many rollcoasters, all sizes, speeds, angles, shapes. I never lose my eyes and have had 0 problems.
If your contacts wre properly fitted and you take care of them and your eyes correctly, then you should have 0 problems too.

they ought to be wonderful, I consistently placed on my contacts on curler coasters. i haven't ever been on one going 120MPH, yet over 70MPH easily. They shouldn't merely fly out, yet they could get incredibly dry. deliver alongside eye drops for in a while.

the only thing... if you normally suffer from dry eyes, the roller coaster could cause them to dry out more... not a big deal but you should carry eye drops with you just in case. and you should be fine.

I have been on many rollercoasters and I have never had any trouble with my contacts. If they fit you right then you should have no problem.
