No drama/suspense there. Ryan got the job. Real question - did Jim and Karen break up.

I've heard theories too. The main ones that I've seen are:
a) Ryan really truly got the job
b) Karen got the job; the call we saw was her asking Ryan out
c) Jim got the job and is taking Pam out to dinner to tell her

However, I'm pretty sure that Ryan got the job. This is a transcript of what we saw:
David: [on phone] So, I know we left the other day on a note of uncertainty. But, after some more thought, I'm very pleased to be able to offer you this job. [laughs] Great! I'm so glad. We're all very excited you're going to be joining us. It'll be nice to have another MBA around here.
Ryan: [on phone, smiling] I'm excited too. Okay. Bye.
Kelly: Who was that?
Ryan: [still smiling] Nobody. You and I are done.
Kelly: What?! [Ryan smiles and glances at the camera]

The question comes from the people who suggest that the clips were mixed together to make it look like they were talking when they were really two seperate conversations. It seems to be a bit of a stretch for this to make sense though. Also, the show has never tried to trick us like this before, and it doesn't make sense for them to try to totally mislead us.

The reason that I'm really sure, however, is from something B.J. Novak, the actor who plays Ryan, said in a live blog after the show:

" I think there will be some very funny plots next year involving Michael and Ryan... Their relationship could take on some characteristics of Michael and Jan... I'm sure that's Ryan's fear anyway. Thanks for the question. The short answer is I'm looking forward to that twist from both sides of camera. "

Michael and Ryan's relationship is taking on some of the characteristics of Michael and Jan...Michael and Jan had an employee-boss relationship. This answer really wouludn't make sense if Ryan was not going to be Michael's boss.

I hope this helps!!!

I think Ryan really did get it. It would be interesting to see them following him around corporate separately though. Hmm...now I don't know! I didn't consider that maybe someone else had actually gotten the job.
