I'd say between 7 and 10 days. We want to wound to be strong, especially in a place like the palm of the hand which gets a lot of use. We're also not too concerned with scaring there since there are plently of lines already there to hide it. I'd evaluate it in a week and if the wound appeared strong I'd probably take 'em out then.

I cut my hand once and had to have surgery. I cut a tendon in my hand. I had about 19 stitches, and didn't get them taken out until 2 weeks later.

It should take about 10 days as long as they are not re-injured in the mean time. If he was seen in the emergency room he should probably call his primary care physician to set up an appointment to have them checked and removed. If he notices the area around the laceration getting red, or if he begins having an elevated temperature call his physician sooner.

HELLO,
SINCE PALM OF THE HAD IS COMPOSED OF KETATINEZED EPITHELIUM UNLIKE THE OPPOSITE OF THE HAND WHERE THE SKIN IS MUCH SOFTER, THE STITCHES SHOULD BE LEFT IN ABOUT 2 WEEKS.
