I sprained my ankle a week ago. I went in and had xrays 6 days ago and got the all clear. My ankle is still extremely swollen as is my foot. I was grabbing my foot earlier and let go and there was a huge indention where my fingers were, its gross. I can't find any shoes that will fit that foot.
I keep it elevated as much as possible, I'm alone with a 2 year old.
Ok now for the strange part. There is a very minimal amount of pain. I can walk just fine as long as I don't go crazy flexing my foot. I do get some pain if I put my weight on it and turn, and I do get a dull pain that radiates from the swollen knob on my ankle lol, it also sort of burns, kind of like in a circle around ankle/calf if that makes sense. The top of my foot is hurting but I think its from the swelling, I had this swelling in my foot when I was pregnant and had the same kind of pain there then as i do now..

I hurt it by jogging outside and hitting a root in the ground.. I did/do ice and heat and ibup

I've been keeping it up and doing the icing and the ibuprofen, it hasn't made a change whatsoever in the size of the ankle... The swelling in my actual foot just started two days ago. Ugh I hate this

You don't have a strange ankle sprain at all. It's very normal to have prolonged swelling in the ankle. What you really need is a temporary time in a walking boot to keep the ankle immobilized and a compressive ankle wrap. These will keep the swelling down and allow the ligaments in your ankle to heal up. Then after about 2-3 weeks, you really need to see physical therapy who can help your re-strengthen your ankle and remove the remaining swelling in your ankle. Hope this helps!

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

I would go back to the doctor. They x-rayed your ankle but did they x-ray your foot? You could also have a tendon injury. This would not show up on x-rays.

Skip the heat if it is swollen, just use ice. Keep it elevated as much as you can. See an orthopedist.

i was hit by a forklift at work and i had massive swelling there in my ankle but there was no pain. the doctor said it was because of the swelling . the swelling was pressing on the nerves and shutting them down he said.(thank god i would have been in a world of hurt for sure)anyways he said that its not a good thing and it might damage the nerves. get a baby sitter or something and get that swelling down! you might loose use of your foot!
