As with any drug cold turkey is the only way to go. I used to drink profusely, every day like I had a death wish, but didn't! I went to a drug rehab to dry out and I was cured in 28 day's! I did have to make a conscious effort not to relapse but it worked for me! Good luck with your friend, at least you are still friends, many people aren't so fortunate to have friends stick by them. You are a kind soul!

Time in a bottle- meaning the same thing as stuck in a rut. Correct? Well if she is 'wedged in tight' then you may have to help her by baby steps. Meaning solve one problem at a time. Soon she will be free and hopefully will no how to get herself unstuck if the problems should ever arrise again. Hope this helped and good luck!

I was stuck in the bottle for about 2 years after my car accident. I was in constant pain and very depressed so I was self medicating. One day I realized that I was wasting my life away and I quit. I have been sober for almost 10 years now and life is much better. Get her to an AA meeting. It really helps.
