You should be confused because 2+2 is not an equation. Also an equation does not have a sum. So better get your problem stated correctly, else you will get no answers, other than silly ones.

2+2 technically is not a complete equation...Do you mean 2 dogs + 2 dogs, 2 Chinese men + 2 Chinese men. but in any case you get 4 UNITS

the respond is +3 the two unfavorable symbols will cancel one yet another out. yet whilst there have been 3 unfavorable symbols the respond could be -3, if there have been 4 the respond could be +3. etc.
