Grills come with empty tanks because a filled tank would have to be shipped as hazardous material. Take your tank to any store with an exchange program and exchange it for a full one or take it to someplace that fills propane tanks for you, like a local U-Haul rental store and have it filled.

It would be rare for it to be filled. When the stores sell them they are using a permit from the local fire department which generally prohibits that. If they are having a special they sometimes give a coupon good for filling them but in general the ones in stock are empty.

The filled tanks weigh about 30 pounds more than the empty ones so that is a noticeable weight when you pick up the filled one. After you try picking up a filled one and an empty one you can tell the difference easily in the future.

I don't know if it would come filled or not. You can check the level of the propane by pouring hot water on the tank. Condensation will be on the outside of the tank at the level of the propane.

Not usually, you have to take it to get filled. If you cannot find a place to fill it, go to the grocery, you can purchase one there, or you can take your empty one and exchange it for under 20 dollars.

Sometimes when you buy a new grill it comes with one but I think they are empty because of safety.

Most likely not. Try lifting the bottle. If it is very heavy, it is full. If you can pick it up with one hand, empty. Empty weight is around 20#. Full weight double that.

Loosen the nozzle a little bit and see if any gas leaks out, you'll smell it immediately and it's not harmful in small quantities
