We are fighting them there instead of here.

Women gotten the right to vote, girls are now able to go to school, free election. When they can protest something they couldn't do before
You know those things liberals hate.

So what is so great about supporting people who attack women and children. Whose only mission is to kill non-believers.

Do you really think Muslim terrorists are going to stop if we left.

Please we left after Blackhawk down and got 9/11 as a reward.

I am not saying Iraq was link to 9/11 but they were link to the same happy bunch of Muslim terrorists.

I'm a conservative, so I guess I get to answer this, but I never thought the Iraq war was a good idea. We were already engaged in Afghanistan, where we should have been, and Iraq just helped us lose focus there. As a result, we still haven't captured Osama, and we're now talking as though this war will last forever.

We didn't need to go into Iraq if our only goal was to fight terrorists somewhere other than here. We were already in Afghanistan.

Can anyone tell me why we're in Iraq now, aside from the fact that there are people fighting us? I mean, if we leave, won't they stop fighting us there? Is there really a war going on? If so, what is our objective?

There isn't a damn thing that's good about this war, or any war that people have ever fought. People are killed, homes are destroyed and countless lives are ruined and changed for ever. Anybody who supports the war because they think it's good is a fool, but it's just as foolish to presume that the sectarian violence in Iraq (and the middle east as a whole) will do anything but escalate if we withdraw at this point in the game. Frankly, Iraq's neighbors (particularly Iran and Syria), along with questionable organizations like Al-Queida and Hezbollah, have all been manipulating the situation over there from day one. If we leave in the absence of a stable Iraqi government to keep the in-fighting in check, I'm concerned that all parties involved will only step up their attacks, and that it will eventually spill over into a regional (possibly a global) war that we'll have to deal with again a decade from now. This is the only reason I support the war.

That said, some of the concerns that are raised by people who do not support the war are entirely justified, and I support any sort of formal inquiry or investigation into these matters to find out what's going on. I'm of the firm belief that there are people within the current administration (and the military) who have entierly too much invested in this war, and that this is leading to the "military-industrial-complex" that Eisenhower warned about, and that this is causing us to drag this conflict out for much longer than necessary.

There's nothing good about this war at all. Nothing. Not one damned thing. This war has been a joke and a travesty. Invading a country that didn't attack us is unAmerican, and sickening.

And yet, what's even more sickening are the so-called conservatives who now obediently spout the latest Bush talking points by insisting that all Saddam had to do was let UN inspectors into Iraq to see he didn't have WMDs and we wouldn't have invaded. Honest to Christ, I don't know if the people who say this are willfully ignorant or defiantly stupid, but the fact of the matter is Saddam Hussein DID ALLOW U.N. WEAPONS INSPECTORS INTO IRAQ. ANYONE RECALL THE NAME HANS BLIX?

But Bush when confronted with growing evidence that there were no WMDs in Iraq ordered the inspectors out so he could launch his invasion. You don't believe me? Check out the attached link from March 2003, just before Bush started his little war.

I personally don't care what opinion anyone holds, just please for the love of God, get the facts right. (And PS, don't make asses of yourselves telling me I "love" Saddam Hussein. Save that for Rumsfeld and Cheney, they were the ones after all who sold him all his weapons during the 90s in spite of a law against such deals. )

we have our military situated nicely between our two worst enemies syria and iran

we have several of the worlds greatest terrorist organizations bogged down in a quagmire in Iraq that leaves them impotent and discrediting themselves by killing all those fellow muslims

we have rid the world of a horrible monster saddam who used chemical bombs to kill at least one million kurds and iranians

we have demonstrated to the world that we will not be used by terrorist

We have killed a huge number of terrorist.....and we did them a favor, now they are enjoying all those virgins in heaven!!

We have exposed poor people to great literature like Harry potter at guantanamo bay cuba

That's a dumb question. Nothing good about war. Some good will come of it hopefully, but the act of warfare itself is horrible.

The best thing about it is that it shows other countries that we are willing to back up our demands. We demanded time and time again that Saddam comply with the UN resolutions, and when he continued to refuse, we did what we said we would do. Now other countries will think twice when they think we are bluffing about military action, and ultimately, it may prevent conflicts in the future.

Nothing is ever "good" about any war. It was the final option, and I agree it had to be exercised. Saddam Hussein was one totally bad dude.

It started out with all good intentions. It was poorly managed. Now we are in too deep to just pull out. That move will have consequences.
