I ask because someone just told me it was too early to be worried about dinner.

Apparently not to some, judging by the time-associated questions they ask.

Yes, I think it has occurred to most of us. But then, people to forget at times. This is such a community of friends (some of the time), that we tend to forget we are literally all over the world.

Strange 21st century phenomenon, and we're not quite used to it yet. That's why, for example, we gave in to the change in Answers to be able to close a question in only four hours instead of waiting 24, as we did back in beta.

But not only are we all over the world, we have different daily rhythms. Here I am awake at something past midnight, and another gets up at 4 a.m. Someone else may sleep all day and be having their breakfast while others in the same time zone are having dinner.

It's a mixed up world, isn't it?

Heavens Yes. I have friends all over the World and one of the most interesting challenges is to figure out when it is a good time to call them. This is especially difficult with some friends I have in Berlin. I would love to be able to pick up a telephone and talk to them anytime, but that wouldn't be at all fair to them since they are usually sleeping when my mind is at it's most active. There are many things we must automatically forgive of each other when we communicate over long distances. Once we have done that, these matters usually become favorite jokes or ways to gently tease each other. I wonder what will happen when we leave the Earth and start communicating between planets. Entire weeks and months may go by between letters or voice communications. I marvel at the possibilities!

Sure, I have friends in different countries and the timezones are different. And when I fly to England, I leave Bulgaria at 5 pm Bulgarian time for example . The flight is 3 hours. But I arrive in England at 6 pm their time. It's funny.
Or when I fly to the New York from Italy. I leave Italy in like 2 pm Italian time. The flight is like 7 hours. I arrive in the USA at 3 pm New York time. I love that. It's funny. It's like being in the future, a few hours ahead.

Only three of all my friends, here and at 360, are at the same time zone as me, so I have to keep this in mind all the time! :)
