Just a heads up... AT&T and Cingular are the exact same company. Nothing changed except the name.
And no, that's false. They are actually gonna be playing it out more and adding new features.

Not sure. I haven't heard that.
I worked for AT&T for 12 years and was laid off in the late 90's.
And remember, the new AT&T is actually the old Southern Bell/SBC.
At the rate they all keep merging, it won't be long before AT&T is 1 company for the entire US like it was before Divestiture.
But back to you question, it would be stupid on their part to cancel prepaid service, because they make interest on the money you've pre-paid until you use your minutes.
I miss C&P Telephone...
