He must be the most over rated player in England, yes he's good for Chelsea but when he plays for England he's shocking. I've never seen him pass a ball forward, always backwards or sideways, his touch is shocking and he can't tackle. A real Jekyll and Hyde character!!! Get Hargreaves in the England squad at the expense of Lampard which would give the likes of Beckham, Gerrard and Cole the license to attack.

Well a certain Mr Beckham wasn't playing at all well for England from the years 2004 to 2006, but another **** kept picking him.
But we know that Mr Beckham can produce and he has done that again. The same thing is with Lampard, as it was in the past with Hargreaves.
Class will always tell in the end.

It's very simple. Frank Lampard is always Mr Bean, not just when he pulls on an England shirt.
At Chelsea he has a license to push on and this lets him indulge the strong areas of his game - ie attacking the penalty area and shooting from distance. He is almost free from responsibilities. Playing this role also 'masks' the weaker areas of his game - his positional sense, passing, anticipation and tackling.
For England he fulfills a different role, one which does not afford him the luxuries he has at club level. In an England shirt, his role demands him to be a more well rounded midfielder. Which he is not. Therefore, his faults are laid bare for all to see.
I'm not knocking Frank for the sake of it, I've never thought particularly highly of him and I think his presence in the England team inhibits Steven Gerrard too... Lamps is an honest pro and I wish him well. But he should not be in the England team IMO.

Mr Bean is a real classic and prefer all authentic classics that's ageless and could consistently be humorous. merely like Monty Python or The youthful ones. Or certainly Blackadder or not The 9 O'Clock information, the two considered one of which additionally featuring the genius of Mr Rowan Atkinson.

Some players paly very well at club level but are mediocre for their country. It's not just the case with Lamps.Look at his goals, they r mostly against small clubs.I have not seen him play as well in big club matches. And at the international level it is even tougher...so no wonder he and other over rated guys fail......surely if a guy scores 30 yarders often for his club but can't even score a penalty in an international.....Is it appropriate to call him a greedy bum?

cuz he's there for the money... now that the players will be donating their payment to charity i'd like to see what kind of performance he'll be giving.. oh and he's totally over-rated.. yeah he scores a couple of fantastic goals.. but they come after some 50 shots wide... and he must be thinking that he's place is cemented there since macca wont have the balls to drop him like he did to david... id like to see what will happen to him once hargreaves comes back..

Just because of his name. What does Rooney ever do for England ? but he'll always be ahead of Crouch just because of his reputation. Mclaren has joined a long line of blinkered managers who just play their favourites and don't play a form player just because he ain't a big name. Take Le tissier for example how he wasn't a regular for England I never know.

Not always! Look at his performances in Euro 2004. Along with Rooney he was probably our best player.
The answer is that the tactics probably don't suit his natural game.

I don't know, the same was true for Ryan Giggs for Wales.
I suspect for him it was the fact that he was not a proper (Welsh speaking) Welshman..more English-Welsh than Welsh-Welsh.
