My hubby and I are also a military family and recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary. The "anniversary rules" say the gift for the first year is paper. It is just an idea, you can take it or leave it, but the newspaper counts as paper. I would put something in the newspaper like a poem or love letter to him, and when it comes out on the stands, then send it to him with your next package or whatever that you send to him. Congrats on your first year!!

Well traditionally for the first wedding anniversary your should buy something paper. That's a hard one but you could send him a book that he likes or that means something to both of you. You could write a letter about how much the last year has meant and how much you love him, or even a poem from the heart, but I'm sure anything you do he'll love. Hope this has helped good luck and God bless.

you can order pretty much anything on the internet and they'll send it to an APO address. My husband is in Iraq right now just like yours. I get him things that I would normally get him for his birthday or our anniversary. Like, he loves football, so I got him a football helmet he could wear from his favorite team. I also got him a jersey with his name on the back. I got him a computer, and for fathers day I just bought him a grill. Obviously I'm not sending the grill to Iraq, I'm just sending pictures of me making burgers half naked. Pictures is also a great idea. Get a camera with a timer on it and go crazy.

How about a professional picture of you? One taken wearing something meaningful, like one of his favorite shirts, or something? A DVD from your wedding, with a dubbed in commentary of what you were thinking and feeling as the events on the DVD help you both remember that day?
It's hard, when you don't want to send anything expensive, for fear it won't reach him, or will be damaged.
Good luck, and Happy Anniversary!

I always found cool stuff and had it engraved at Things Remembered for my husband. He always liked it. I recently sent my husband a pillow case with my perfume on it, sent in a plastic baggy- he said he keeps it in the bag so he keeps the same scent & he loves it. It's usually the simple things that mean the most to them when they are gone.
