What factors predispose a person to child abuse?
The abuser's childhood: approximately 20% of offenders were themselves abused as children.
The abuser's substance abuse: children in alcohol-abusing families are nearly 4 times more likely to be mistreated, almost 5 times more likely to be physically neglected, and 10 times more likely to be emotionally neglected than children in non-alcohol- abusing families. Of all child abuse cases, 50-80% involve some degree of substance abuse by the child's parents.
Family stress: the disintegration of the nuclear family and its inherent support systems have been held to be associated with child abuse.
Social forces: experts debate whether a presumed reduction in religious/moral values coupled with an increase in the depiction of violence by the entertainment and informational media may increase child abuse.
The child: children at higher risk for abuse include infants who are felt to be "overly fussy", handicapped children, and children with chronic diseases.
Specific "trigger" events that occur just before many fatal parental assaults on infants and young children include: an infant's inconsolable crying, feeding difficulties, a toddler's failed toilet training, and exaggerated parental perceptions of acts of "disobedience" by the child.

More than 2.5 million cases of child abuse and neglect are reported each year. Of these, 35 percent involve physical abuse, 15 percent involve sexual abuse and 50 percent involve neglect.
Child abuse is common. Studies show that one in four girls and one in eight boys will be sexually abused before they are 18 years old. About one in 20 children is physically abused each year. Sexual abuse includes inappropriate touching of a child's breasts or genitalia, as well as someone's exposing their genitalia to a child. Physical abuse involves injuring a child's body

There is no single explanation for child maltreatment. Child abuse results from a complex combination of personal, social, and cultural factors. These may be grouped into four primary categories: (1) intergenerational transmission of violence, (2) social stress, (3) social isolation and low community involvement, and (4) family structure.

The child is aggravational and the parents are too exhausted to handle the child. The parents are just not suited to raising children and can only respond to the frustration through violence. The child is just too lazy to do things for itself and parents can no longer cope.
I hope you can write better than you did in this question, otherwise, it's hardly worth doing the essay as the teacher will take away all your points for spelling and grammar.

Bastard parents who have no conscience nor consideration as to their child's true emotional needs. Just because a kid acts up doesn't mean it's his / her fault... There's always some need perhaps emotional that's not being met... Love your kids. Be kind. And they will grow up remembering that they were loved and cared for and will in turn love and care for THEIR children.. hopefully.
